Setting up your account

A walkthrough of the onboarding flow when you first sign in to uman

When you sign in to uman for the first time, you'll go through a quick setup to get your workspace ready. There's a progress bar at the top so you always know where you are.

Each step includes a preview on the right side showing what the feature will look like once you start using it — so you can already see the value before you even finish setting up.

1️⃣ Set up your profile

First, you'll fill in the basics so your team can recognize you:

  • Profile photo — upload a picture (your colleagues will see this across the platform)

  • First and last name

  • Your role — e.g. Sales Representative, Account Manager, etc.


2️⃣ Add your target prospects

Next, you'll add the companies you're actively trying to win as clients. Search by company name and add them.

Why this matters: uman uses your prospect list to identify similar accounts and new business opportunities. The more prospects you add, the better uman can work for you.

Don't worry about getting the full list right now — you can always add more later from the Prospects page.


3️⃣ Add your existing customers

Now add the companies that are already your customers. This is separate from prospects because uman treats them differently.

Why this matters: uman uses your customer list to identify expansion opportunities and provide ongoing account coaching.

You can always add more customers later from the Customers page.


4️⃣ Connect your calendar

Connecting your calendar lets uman prepare your meetings, capture conversations, and guide follow-ups automatically. It unlocks three key features:

  • AI meeting prep — receive context, talking points, and risks before each meeting

  • Follow-up insights — turn transcripts into clear next steps and actionable tasks

  • Coaching insights — understand what moved the deal forward and what might be missing

You can connect Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar. If you're not ready yet, click Skip for now — you can always connect it later from Settings.


5️⃣ You're all set!

Your workspace is ready. Before you jump in, you'll see a QR code to download the uman mobile app. The app lets you record in-person meetings — just hit record on your phone and uman will transcribe and analyze it, just like it does with online calls.
