Tips for a successful recording

Best practices to ensure your mobile app recordings are captured and uploaded reliably.

Updated this week

Follow these tips to make sure your recordings are captured successfully every time.

Before you start

  • Verify you're on the correct meeting — double-check the meeting name before tapping Record. Moving a recording to a different meeting afterwards requires support intervention.

  • Keep your phone charged — long recordings consume battery. Start with enough charge to last the full meeting.

  • Check your available storage — the app will warn you if disk space is running low, but it's good to make sure you have enough room before a long recording.

During the recording

  • You can use your phone normally — the recording continues in the background, so feel free to check other apps, take notes, or lock your screen.

  • Don't force-close the uman app — swiping it away from your recent apps will stop the recording. Closing other apps is fine.

  • Place your phone close to the conversation — for the best transcription quality, keep your phone on the table between you and the other participants rather than in your pocket or bag.

After the recording

  • Always tap Save — this is the most important step. Your recording is not uploaded until you explicitly save it.

  • Wait for the upload to start — if you have a stable internet connection, you should see the upload begin immediately after saving. If you're offline, the recording will be stored locally and can be uploaded later via Start recording → Select offline recordings.

  • Don't force-close the app — let the upload finish before closing uman. If the upload does get interrupted, you can retry it later — failed uploads are saved and can be resumed.
